DACES Test

DACES receive funding from the ESFA to provide courses for Derbyshire residents.  By registering/enrolling with us you are consenting to sharing your information with us and funding organisations in line with Government guidance for further education providers and you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions of enrolment. On an annual basis you will be required to show evidence of residency to check your eligibility for funding, as well as for ID checks. 

Adult learners aged 19+ If you live in a devolved area you can enrol online, over the phone or in centre, but full cost fees apply and we will contact you about any additional fees due (check your eligibility for funding online).    Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an active an EHC Plan (check your eligibility for funding online).

Description

The qualification gives a basic understanding of some key aspects of living and working in the UK.

Who is this course for?
It is primarily aimed at learners who have arrived relatively recently in the UK, who may also be learning English as an additional language, in order to help them integrate quickly and easily.

How will I learn?
The course will feature a mixture of tutor-led activities, individual work, group work and homework. You will participate in regular reading, writing, speaking & listening activities. Prior to the course you will have a confidential interview and assessment to ensure that the course is suitable for you. This course will help you: • Know about the geography of the United Kingdom (UK) • Know how to get to know people and places in own local area • Know about responsibilities and freedoms in the UK • Know about the education system in the UK.

What will I need?
Bring along a pen and paper so that you can make your own notes. A bi-lingual dictionary would also be very useful. Handouts may be provided.
