DACES Test

DACES receive funding from the ESFA to provide courses for Derbyshire residents.  By registering/enrolling with us you are consenting to sharing your information with us and funding organisations in line with Government guidance for further education providers and you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions of enrolment. On an annual basis you will be required to show evidence of residency to check your eligibility for funding, as well as for ID checks. 

Adult learners aged 19+ If you live in a devolved area you can enrol online, over the phone or in centre, but full cost fees apply and we will contact you about any additional fees due (check your eligibility for funding online).    Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an active an EHC Plan (check your eligibility for funding online).

Description

All of our new Tailored Learning courses are matched to one of seven 'purposes' which have been designed by the Department for Education to recognise the wider benefits of learning.
This course will provide you with skills to get into work or self-employment or to move on or up from your current job.
The Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers qualifications are based on acquiring good practical and relevant skills. This qualification may lead to employment within the industry or with additional practice may lead to you starting your own small business.
Stage 1 is a qualification in its own right and will be certificated.

Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you have some prior experience of upholstery or furniture restoration. It would also be an advantage to have some textiles knowledge and practice of using a sewing machine.

How will I learn?
This is a workshop-based course. There will be practical activities with guidance from your tutor. The course will be a mix of tutor-led activities, individual work and homework. You will be given tasks and can work on your own projects.
Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.

What will I need?
You will need a laptop or notebook for making notes. Handouts will be provided.

Are there any other costs?
You will need your own upholstery tools. You will be provided with a list at the start of your course. Any fabrics and materials required for practical project can be purchased in center.
