On an annual basis you will be required to show evidence of residency to check your eligibility for funding, as well as for ID checks.
Adult learners aged 19+ If you live in a devolved area you can enrol online, over the phone or in centre, but full cost fees apply and we will contact you about any additional fees due (check your eligibility for funding online). Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an active an EHC Plan (check your eligibility for funding online).

Description
The course includes reading and discussing a range of short texts, both fiction and non-fiction. This includes analysing content, structure, language and subtext. It will also cover how to write persuasively and creatively and use accurate high-level punctuation, grammar, spelling and vocabulary. In addition, the course will improve confidence in speaking and listening and students will complete an individual presentation.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who wants to improve their English and does not have a Grade 4/C or above in GCSE. No previous qualifications are required, though a Level 2 Functional Skills English qualification is highly recommended. The course tutor will assess students in the first weeks of the course to ensure it is at the right level for them.
How will I learn?
The course will be a mixture of tutor-led activities, individual and group work. There will be homework set every week. You will do a mixture of reading, writing and speaking and listening in the class. Your tutor will give you regular written and verbal feedback during the course and you will sit mock exams in preparation for the GCSE exams. To further support your learning, you will be given access to a student email and a 365 account as well as a login to our online learning platform which will be individually tailored to your needs. You can access these tools at home and use them to reinforce your learning and skills.
What will I need?
You will need a file to organise your work, a pen and a large pad of lined A4 paper. If learning online, you will need access to a laptop. There are some laptops available for students to loan. Ask your local centre for more information.
Are there any other costs?
The course is free. You will be provided with all the resources and handouts you need.
