DACES receive funding from the ESFA to provide courses for Derbyshire residents. Adult learners aged 19+ If you live in a devolved area you can enrol online, over the phone or in centre, but full cost fees apply and we will contact you about any additional fees due (check your eligibility for funding online). Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an active an EHC Plan (check your eligibility for funding online).

Description
This qualification provides learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people in a school or college environment. It will enable learners to gain an understanding of elements including children and young people's development, safeguarding their welfare, and communication and professional relationships.
Who is this course for?
As learners need to show competence in both skills and knowledge, they will need to be working or be on a practical placement during the taught programme of study in a learning environment (school or college).
Learners should hold or be studying towards Level 2 maths and English.
How will I learn?
You will attend a weekly class either online or in centre. You will produce an online portfolio of evidence and your tutor will give you individual support and feedback on all the work you produce. Learners will have to do at least five hours of homework per week; this could be researching or reading relevant articles within childcare, writing up work from your placement and work set from class.
What will I need?
You will need a laptop or other computer with internet access to complete your work for this course, if your class is remote attendance you will need to attend weekly via Teams.
